Days of Bread and Gratitude for the Fruits of Autumn

 With the first days of autumn, the fields, vineyards and orchards present us with various and delicious fruits. The wealth of colors, smells and tastes spreads in all directions. That's why every year at the beginning of October we celebrate the Days of Bread and Thanksgiving for the Fruits of the Earth.

In our school students learn about the creation of bread and its importance in nutrition, about tradition and Croatian customs. Through instructive stories, recitations, plays and educational films, children are taught about bread. Through practical activities and creative workshops, students are introduced to the making of bread, pastries, and cakes. The participation of the students themselves in making bread is encouraged, both in schools and in families. Emphasis is placed on a healthy diet and the consumption of fruits and vegetables.

The 2nd grade students were also happy to bring their favorite autumn fruits to school, which they displayed in the school's atrium. They learned songs about bread and how bread is made. They kneaded buns in their homes and proudly brought them to show their friends in class. They saw how much effort needs to be put into each piece of pastry!

The most joyful moments were the exchange of fruit and pastries and their consumption. With gratitude for the blessings given, we eagerly await next autumn!
